Last year I linked to a great visualization of Facebook connections as a heat-map projected on the world.
Thorsten Gaetz cleverly inverted the image and overlayed some new data, highlighting the areas of the world with a population density higher than two people per square mile.
He then went on to highlight for each low-Facebook, high-population region which social network is most popular.
I knw Vkontakte was a big deal in Russia even when the original Fcebook map came out, and Orkut was bug in India and Brazil, but I hadn’t heard of Odnoklassniki, hi5, RenRen or QZone.
